About

Not everyone wants to be a rock star or play in a band.

And because you’re here, you probably just want to learn to strum along to a bunch of easy guitar songs. Maybe to be the ‘life of the party’, or, just for fun, or, to play at family gatherings.

So that means there’s no need to learn to read music, play lots of scales, go to lessons, practice for hours every day,or all that other drama…

Just learn a few simple chords and off you go.

BUT… it’s not really quite so simple… there are a lot of things you still need to learn, and learn to do to the best of your ability.

So my intention is to provide the help you need to master the art of strumming. So you can become a cool-cat rhythm guitar player and have a load of fun doing so.

All by learning how to play easy guitar songs in different styles.

How to learn easy guitar songs…

Here’s some of the ideas I have for this site:

  • Strumming tips – starting with the basics and moving on to more advanced strumming techniques.
  • Good time – it’s real important that you keep good time when playing music. I’ll show you how to make rock-steady time 2nd nature.
  • Learn lots of chords – having a good chord library certainly goes a long way to getting the ‘sound’ you are after. So we’ll work at learning a variety of different chord shapes and substitutions.
  • Chord progressions – you’ll get a good understanding of how chords are used together. We’ll look at chord families and chord sequences. This will make it a lot easier for you to figure out songs for yourself.
  • Keys – knowing what key a song is in makes learning it a lot easier. That’s because every key has 7 chords. Once you know those chords, they will be your first choice for finding the chords of a song. We’ll also look at how to figure out what ‘key’ a song is in.
  • Agility and fast, smooth chord changes – this comes with practice, but you’ll learn some tips that will help you get this down

The Songs…

  • I’ll make videos explaining the chords of a song and how to play them
  • We’ll look at the strumming patterns used in those songs
  • We’ll analyze the chords and the progressions and show several songs that use the same progressions (sequences)
  • I’ll show slow versions and full-speed versions. You can play along with me to learn the chords and strumming patterns.

So there’s a lot to come. It’s going to be a big job and will require a lot of my time. So please be patient while we get this baby pumped up and ready to roll.

Let’s Party!! :)

To your guitar playing fun,

JB
