Learning to keep the beat with a metronome
This video gives a few tips on using a metronome to develop a rock-solid sense of time and the beat.
Remember:
- Tap that foot in time with the beat
- Count to yourself – 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4
- Do the ‘ands’ for the up-strums – 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 +
- Buy a metronome and set it at 60 b.p.m. Slowly build up speed. (Increase the metronome speed every few days.)
- Relax… remember, relaxation is the key to a fluent, smooth style.
- Practice several times a day for just a few minutes. (1-5 minutes will do). This will guarantee the fastest progress.
